How To Make A Chalkboard Cheese Board

By Coco

I’ve been dying for an excuse to create my own chalkboard anything and when my girlfriend’s shower popped up in my agenda I headed straight to Michaels.  She just happens to be a teacher so combining a love for cheese with a chalkboard was a pretty magical tie in.

This DIY is super simple and you can do it in a variety of ways.  I opted for the two strips of chalkboard with an open center because A. I love stripes and B. you can switch up the way the lettering is facing.  If it’s on a two sided  buffet table you can write the words to face either side.

What You’ll Need:

How To:

  • tape a clean cutting board with painters tape

tape

  • paint with two coats of chalkboard paint.  The instructions say to let it dry for 24 hours in between coats but I only gave it around an hour and a half.  #rebel
  • remove tape

paint

  • once it’s totally dry, cover the chalkboard paint in chalk and then remove with a damp cloth.  This apparently cures the chalkboard paint and primes it for use
  • and now for the fun part!  Place a selection of your favorite cheeses and write out the names 🙂

My printing clearly isn’t the best but being that it is a chalkboard you can always erase it and try again!
