Eating All Of Your Faves Without The Guilt with Actifry! + Contest

It’s no secret that I love to cook but one thing I haven’t mastered (or really even tried) is the deep fry. Maybe because it looks a bit intimidating or maybe because I’m forever watching my weight, but whatever the case, deep frying is something I’ve really avoided.

Being that I love gadgets and the hottest new thing on the market, when I heard about Actifry I knew I had to try it. Actifry, the newest innovation from Tfal, is an incredibly unique kitchen appliance that is a healthy alternative to deep-frying. Yep, using the Actifry you can achieve delicious, crispy, flavorful foods using only a tablespoon of oil.

To test out this claim I decided to make two things that not only I love, but that my picky-eating-daughter actually eats! I made Rosemary Parmesan fries and chicken fingers using recipes I found on Tfal’s website. Though I tweaked the recipes a tad (what aspiring chef doesn’t) the food was delicious, full of flavor and so easy to make.

Here are the links to the recipes. To make the chicken nuggets kid friendly I didn’t add paprika and added only one teaspoon of poultry seasoning and because of my picky eater’s request, made fingers instead of nuggets:

Chicken Nuggets Pendleton

Preparation Time: 1 hour

Cooking Time: 14 minutes

Serve: 4 people

 

Ingredients

1 lb chicken tenders cut 2 inch pieces

1/3 cup grated fresh Parmigiano Regiano

1/4 tsp salt

1/8 tsp paprika

3 tsp Paul Prudhomme Poultry Seasoning or Poultry Seasoning

1/2 cup fine panko

2 whisked eggs

1/3 cup flour

2 tablespoons oil (I used EVOO, Olive oil)

 

Preparation

 

Cut up chicken tenders and marinate in Poultry Seasoning in fridge for 2 hours. Grate Parmesan, add salt, add paprika, combine with 1/2 cup panko. Mix well. Break 2 eggs and whisk with a fork. Dry chicken tenders with paper towel and dredge in flour. Then dredge in whisked egg mixture. Dredge in panko, Parmesan, salt, paprika mixture and place on drying rack. Set Actifry to 14 minutes. Add 1/2 chicken panko chicken tenders and cover with 1 tablespoon olive oil. Let nuggets Actifry for 14 minutes or until brown and crispy. Remove and sprinkle with salt, paprika and poultry seasoning. Repeat for second batch which might require a little less time. Place on plate, again sprinkle with seasoning and I added freshly chopped cilantro.

Make your sauce, as you like it.

Parmesan Fries

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 35 minutes

 

Serve: 2 people

 

Ingredients

2 lbs potatoes cut into shoestrings

1 tsp fresh thyme (or 1/2 tsp dried)

1/2 tsp fresh rosemary (or a pinch dried, crumbled)

1/2 tsp Montreal steak spice

1 scoop olive oil

parmesan cheese to taste

 

Preparation

 

Add fries, thyme, rosemary, steak spice and oil to the Actifry. Cook for

35 mins, until golden and crispy. Plate and grate parmesan generously

over top.

These recipes are totally good for adults too – when I tested them I swear I couldn’t stop eating the fries! So addictive.  The Actifry also makes amazing gourmet things like risotto so it’s not just for fun stuff, you can get fancy too!
