Taste of Toronto is a food lover’s paradise that runs for four days and is one of Toronto’s most important and anticipated food festivals of the year. Some of Toronto’s best chefs and some celebrity guest chefs from across Canada, like Chef Chuck Hughes, joined in to highlight their signature dishes- some of which we know and LOVE while others enticed our curiosities.
I literally ate to my heart’s content and started with the most amazing pork and shrimp dumplings from The Drake (who also won Best in Taste) and it didn’t stop there.
I had to try Miku sushi (as I had wanted to try it for so long) and thanks to my Amex Access, I was able to go through the American Express Priority Line, get ahead of the crowd and be one of the first to have it. I excitedly watched them as they torched the Aburi Oishi Sushi. It. Was. Incredible! I could have had seconds and thirds but I had to leave room for the other amazing food like organic ice cream that I had… three times!!! Yes, three times and it was all worth it.
Growing up, you’re told not to play with your food, but at Taste of Toronto, you’re encouraged to do exactly that, especially at the Maille tents where we got to make our own mustard! It was the greatest! All of my senses were involved, making this experience the best it could be and I got a few cooking tips that I applied later that weekend.
After spending so much time walking around, I was grateful for the Amex Lounge where I was able to grab complimentary drinks and snacks at the private bar area. We were able to sit back and recharge before going back out for more. It was the perfect place to relax in between meals and hideout from the sun.
I left with a food lover’s coma and couldn’t be happier. It was all made possible by American Express. Being a Cardmember allowed for Front Of The Line access to purchase tickets before they went on sale to the general public, security line bypass, entrance into the Lounge and reserved front row seating to live demonstrations and special events at the Taste Theatre, Tasting Room and Metro Master Class events. Not only does Amex continue to unlock memorable moments for Canadians each year in dining, but Cardmembers can also get access to events in music, theatre and retail.
