I am a sucker for a good tear jerker, in fact most movies will make me cry at some point or another and I love it. So when Me Before You hit theatres, I knew I had to see it. My best friend and I went to the theatre, bought our popcorn and chocolate and got ready for a good cry that we knew this movie would inevitably have in store. While we weren’t wrong (there were piles of tissues needed) this film was more than just your typical tear jerker romance. Me Before You was quirky, cute, even funny and of course sad and sweet at the same time. It really worked!

Me Before You is based off of the novel by Jojo Moyes. It tells the story of young and wealthy Will Traynor (Sam Claflin), whose life is completely turned upside when he becomes paralyzed due to a horrible accident. His mother decides to hire him a new caretaker, which is when Will is introduced to quirky and sweet Louisa (Emilia Clarke), the two could not be more different and despite their incredible differences and approaches to life they form an unlikely friendship and bond which develops and grows throughout the film.

This movie had me laughing and crying and thinking about it long after I left the theatre. Watching the relationship between Will and Louisa grow is both humorous and heartbreaking. This film certainly takes you on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster and it’s wonderful. Me Before You is not the typical romance story, and I think it’s really worth the watch (and the tears!).
