you’re always buzzin just like, neon, neon….

As the sun continues to grace us with her glory I can’t help but scowl at my I’m-So-Obsessed-With-Black wardrobe.  Regardless of whether the warm weather is here to stay or not, it’s time for some colour!!!

Here are some pieces that I need and also that I covet.

(If you’re not into the ‘all bright everything’ look, opt for a colour pop with an accessory, nail polish or lipstick. )

A Little Puma Suede Activation with Marcus Troy

My friend and fave; Social Media magician, Mr Marcus Troy, sent me over a pair of Puma Suedes with one simple request; Style ‘em like YOU would.  So I mustered up my best ‘Blue Steel’ et voila:

You all know about my red obsession (although mostly on my lips) so I was thrilled that he chose this colour for me.

I teamed it up with a pair of H&M skinnies (that used to be waxed but I’ve worn so much that only a slight shine remains..) a Comme des Garcon T, a vintage camo jacket and a pair of Ray-Bans.

Check out the site to see how everyone else styled their Suedes HERE.

Thanks again, Marcus!  Great work!

Women of Style: Elisa Salvatore

When I first met Elisa through our mutual friend Rochelle, it was love at first sight.  Not only did I love her incredible European chic sense of style -as well as her pairing of just the right kind of accessories with every outfit-but she (like me) loves Nutella!

That same European chic style has landed Elisa in the Style pages of a few magazines such as Flare and Toronto Life.

I’m just waiting for her invitation to take me shopping in Italy.  Elisa, I’m ready when you are!

Elisa Salvatore

Age:

34

Occupation:

Account Supervisor, BOOM! Marketing (Experiential Event Marketing)

Current city: Toronto

1) Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Toronto, but spent my childhood summers and last year of University in Italy.  I like to think the latter influenced my sense of style overall.  Cosmopolitan Europeans have a way with understated elegance, and ladylike demure. And Italians are notorious for their use of accessories!

2) How would you describe your style?

It’s hard to say, but I definitely strive towards effortless chic.  Oftentimes I run straight from the office to an evening soiree, so I need to be dressed appropriately either way.  A woman’s shoes are a critical component to any outfit, so I start from there and work my way up, and most if not all my wardrobe staples are monochromatic (apart from some standout accessories), so coordination is a breeze!

3) Your go-to brands and why?

Vince. Timeless treasures.  Quality fabrics.  Easy wear.

Paige. The best jeans on earth.

Parker – Perfect for sexy, sophisticated looks.  Discovered my first beaded top by accident in a vintage store, and have gravitated to the line ever since.

A.L.C. – A one stop brand for all fun trends.

Joie – blouses with feminine detail and luxurious fabrics

BCBG – Max Azaria has made shopping for a dress with a price point objective that much easier.

Rag and Bone – Have some incredible coloured blazers this season and make office wear cool again.

Elizabeth and James

Helmut Lang – Jersey, Jersey, Jersey!

dream weaver: Jenni Kayne, D’Orsay Flat

I admit, flats aren’t always my friends.  I’m a heel gal.  But when I spied these chic numbers on my ‘girl-crush-de-jour‘ I swooned.

And quickly wondered if my fat wide feet would fit into them (or spill uncomfortably over the edges – *shudder*)

Regardless, they’re stunning, whether on my feet or not.

style: chicks in kicks

I’m usually a running-shoe-only-for-the-gym type of gal (excluding Chuck’s and Tretorns, of course) Never really got into Jordan’s, had a brief elementary school affair with some Air Max but not until Isabel broke out with the release of her ‘concealed heel runners’, have I had a few heart stopping engagements with some rubber soles.

Since then, I’ve spied a few more styles that are so perfect for this transitional weather that mostly  fall safely under the $300 mark and since ‘sporty spice’ is all the rage again this season, let’s kick it!
