A few other bloggers and I were invited to dinner at The Paramount in London to discuss the new PC laptop range called ‘THE COLLECTION’ and general diversity in the computer/tech world.
It was great to have an expert from the Windows/Microsoft genuinely interested in the concerns and trends of the PC from bloggers, who like many others, LIVE off the computer. The scrumptious dinner with a gorgeous venue that gave us a perfect view of the sun setting over London was also the great touch!
For me who has not and WILL NOT convert to Mac, this presentation was both informative and refreshing. To know that others in the world of fashion, beauty and media, where diversity is key, were also noticing that conformity is starting to happen with the notion that ‘WE MUST HAVE AN iPAD’! It’s actually kind of ironic that this is happening, where in every other aspect diversity and individuality are celebrated.
That’s where the idea of ‘THE COLLECTION’ was created.
Berry Gordy & Diana Ross’ love affair is something that I feel was deep yet restricted. Gordy, who had an ability for discovering talent started a record label in 1959 with just $800 in his pocket. Two years later, Gordy signed Diana and two other young women from Detroit to his Motown label and renamed them “The Supremes.” And just like that scene from Dreamgirls where Deena becomes the center of attention and secures a place in her career and the heart of her boss Curtis is exactly what happened to Diana when Berry fell for her in 1966.
Being dubbed the younger, not-so-glamorous Sex and The City for ‘real’ girls, Girls (which premiers tomorrow night on HBO) is a show about what it’s really like to be in your twenty’s in our world. The show is set in New York and primarily follows the cast of four friends who are trying to navigate that excruciatingly difficult find-yourself time; the post college years.
What excites me most is that it was written, directed and created by 26 year old Lena Dunham (below, right), who also stars in the show as Hannah. PLUS it’s produced by Judd Apatow
I don’t know about you, but my twenty’s were weird, and if you’re still in them, I can only imagine how much stranger they have gotten with our obsession with everything ‘Social media’. It’s refreshing to see a new show coming out that is willing to dig a little deeper, I just wonder how ready the audience is to watch something that’s main focus isn’t Manolos…
I’m a borderline fitted hat fanatic so when Brock from 1love asked me to be a part of their City On My Fitted campaign I was so in. Being that I’m a home-team supporter (no matter how good or bad they may be at the present time -AHEM Raptors, Leafs…) I of course owned a Blue Jay hat, my grey Jay’s fitted -that I bought when Stolen Riches was still around- is one of my faves.
Check out the video, the little kids are the cutest things EVER!
