Travel Tuesday: 5 Faves, LA

I was in recently in LA and fell back in love.  I hadn’t been since my bachelorette so it was fun to explore again.  With recommendations from friends and Goop’s App we checked out a bunch of new spots and also re-visited some of our old favorites.  So for this week’s edition of Travel Tuesday I thought I would share my current Five Faves in LA.

The Beverly Hills Hotel:

One of my favorite hotels on the planet.  So glam.  So Old Hollywood.

The hotel celebrated their 100 year anniversary just last year and in celebration treated themselves to a little nip & tuck – renovating the front lobby and pool area.  We were treated to a complimentary upgrade via our American Express card *bonus* and got to stay in a bungalow.  When walking over to our room we were told that we were staying ‘the Norma Jean’ or Bungalow 7.  Apparently the actress’ favorite.

With amazing food (the chopped salad at the Polo lounge is legendary), phenomenal staff and perfectly manicured grounds, this hotel is the place to stay.

LACMA:

Of all of the times I’ve been to LA, I had only ever been outside of the LACMA at night to see Chris Burden’s ‘Urban Lights’ (pictured below).  I wanted actually check out the museum and was happy I finally did. The museum houses an extensive collection of modern art including many works by Picasso and Matisse plus some very interesting pieces by contemporary artists including Metropolis II – a sculpture of a city complete with mini cars racing around by Chris Burden.

The Getty Villa

A breathtaking museum in Malibu housing 44,000 Greek, Roman and Etruscan sculptures created by oil tycoon J. Paul Getty.

This spot came highly recommended by Goop and friends but we were warned about the wait.  And they weren’t lying.  The wait was LONG.  But when we finally got seated and had our first bites all was forgotten.  If you’re ever in Venice make this spot a priority.
