Travel Tuesday: Mr Cowe Goes To Miami

Every trip to Miami seems to start and end with the same 2 feelings – excitement and sadness. There is always so much excitement to visit and yet leaving is never an easy process; from catching just one more glimpse of the ocean to one last bite at your favourite restaurant. It seems as though when we travel, for a brief moment we get to create a new life and home where we stay. While in Miami for Art Basel, there’s one place I got the opportunity to call home during my stay – the brand new EAST, Miami!

EAST, Miami is the city’s newest hotspot and luxury lifestyle hotel. Combining a number of mixed raw materials, EAST, Miami’s architecture and design has common themes of concrete, wood, and glass.

Excited and anxious to hit the ground running for Art Basel and all the festivities, while exploring EAST it became more and more clear that all I wanted to do was relax by the pool. EAST has curated the perfect urban oasis in downtown Miami, surrounded by amazing design and architecture and complete with a restaurant and rooftop bar.

My room became a second luxurious home. The best part was the ease and convenience of the hotel’s state of the art technology, from keyless room entry to digital in room controls. I never had to leave bed to control lighting, set privacy to the room, or order room service! FACT: I’ve never ordered room service before (big shocker, I know). Therefore EAST Miami will now forever have a memory for me as my first! After all the hustle and bustle of Art Basel, I was so comfortable – I never wanted to leave my room – especially when room service was a phone call away. I ordered delicious avocado toast with chimmichurri – a nice little twist on a favourite of mine.

The food was definitely one of my favourite things that the hotel offered. I dined at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Quinto La Huella, and later found out that it was the talk of the town in Miami as one of the hottest new restaurants. Both the food and service were amazing. My mouth was watering from enjoying sashimi and fresh octopus, to lamb and swordfish, accompanied by sangria and the most delicious Caipirinha’s I’ve ever had!

While party hopping across Miami, for Art Basel, the hotel was conveniently located very close to everything I needed to be close to. From the Design District and Wynwood, to South Beach, everything was in reach. Every night EAST played host to a number of pretty awesome parties for Art Basel. From a fun party for the launch of Unemployed Magazine with Coco & Breezy, to experiencing a private performance by legendary hip-hop icon DMC (of RUN DMC)- I had the best of the best.

EAST Miami has become one of my top places to visit and stay while in Miami and should be your next go-to.

Until next time…
