Fighting Free Radicals Inflammation with Blue Majik

Pursuing my latest update from Goop I came across an article on how to make drinks with activated charcoal.  I had recently been on a crazy work trip that involved loads of sampling of cocktails and little to no sleep.  Desperate for relief of a wicked hangover I stumbled upon some activated charcoal in the drug store at the airport and popped a few.  I woke up halfway through the flight feeling rested and relieved of all of the symptoms of a wild weekend.  So when Goop had some alternative ways to ingest this magical potion, I was in.

Of all of the recipes on their Wellness Drink post, Blue Majik Woman was my favourite. First of all, it’s gorgeous, and secondly, it tastes delicious.  The drink gets its blue colour from Blue Majik, a blue green algae that I could only find in pill form on Amazon.  I’m told that blue green algae’s benefits are not only to help fend off free radicals but also help with inflammation.  This drink is also a pretty sweet way to drink something cool when you’re avoiding alcohol because it’s more than just plain water but has a ton of positive benefits.

I’ve changed the recipe from Goop just a touch by replacing the passionfruit juice with fresh lemon juice and water because, well, I couldn’t find passionfruit juice and also, I like me some tang.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup of coconut water
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp of monk fruit (more if you like it sweet!)
  • 1 capsule of Blue Majik
  • 1/2 a cup of sparkling water

directions:

  • combine everything except sparkling water and dissolve the blue majik by stirring
  • add ice and top with sparkling water
  • ENJOY!

See the full Goop article HERE with all of the recipes.

xx,

Coco

p.s. I made one of the drinks frothy by popping the first four ingredients in a blender.
