I am here to tell you that I have been through every damn product that is out there to cure my acne. To my surprise, less is more proved to spark the most effective results. Although, I must add that I really kick-started the whole process with antibiotics. The most nerve wracking part of it was dreading the results after stopping the medication. I was prescribed Doxycycline 100mg to take for eight months, but was anticipating that it would be a shorter period of time for the drug to take effect. The idea of putting my body on antibiotics for such a long period of time did not appeal to me, especially after such a dreadful experience with my dermatologist (who shall not be named), but I guess he did know what he was doing (to an extent). I took the antibiotics religiously for around 45-50 days. In addition to the antibiotics, I cut dairy (it was a rough 2 months), drowned myself in lemon water, and said goodbye to all of my products. I switched to au naturel, and with a lot of patience and consistency, we made major progress. I kept up the strict diet, lemon water and natural products and have not touched the antibiotics since those 50 days. Below I have listed each product that has helped me transform my skin. Hope you enjoy!
I actually read about this product through other people’s skin transformations and didn’t realize the powerfulness of peppermint until using Dr. Bronner’s. I kid you not, I literally thought I was going to be blind after using this in the shower, between the steam and the intensity of the peppermint, you are in for a reawakening. What I love about this soap is how clean and tight it leaves my skin feeling post rinse. It really takes all makeup off and leaves skin feeling fresh!
After using the Dr. Bronner’s cleanser for a month, I decided to elevate my cleansing routine by incorporating this face brush, that ensures an even deeper clean! I won’t use this tool everyday because the combination can be harsh, especially before applying foundation. It can dry you out. I’d recommend only using at night, it creates the perfect canvas (opening dem pores), before applying a concentrated serum.
This serum feels a little sticky when first applying, but it quickly soaks right into your skin. It’s a thick, clear serum, and after using religiously, morning and night for a solid month, I definitely noticed improved clarity. The best part is the fact that this product is under $10.
After pimples stopped appearing on my face, I switched to a serum dedicated to improving scarring, and smoothing the look of my skin. This is currently a daily part of my routine. The consistency is thinner and more greasy, so I only apply before bed and let it sink in overnight. Now, when I wake up I simply apply moisturizer and primer and then put my makeup on, and it looks fresh, (even after a four hour sleep!!).
I read countless reviews on this little go-to, considering how expensive it is for such a small quantity. Although, I do believe it contributed to the overall improved look of my skin, I’m not sure just how much significance it added to my skin care routine. It has a berry taste and I typically add a teaspoon to my smoothies, versus mixing with water, which you can also do.
The thing I love about the majority of these products is how reasonable they are in price, minus Beauty Chef’s Glow, which is not necessary. So, if you’re feeling frustrated with your current regimen, minimize the number of products you use and give these a try. Now I can talk all I want about the results, but the proof is in the photos. I was nervous to share these but if it helps at least one person, then I’m happy! It can be so demotivating when you’re self conscious about your skin. Trust me, I know!
After seeing these photos from my facialist, I was SHOCKED, my jaw dropped and I couldn’t even believe that my skin ever looked like that at one point.
