How To Stick To Those Resolutions

So we’re a month into 2019 and tbh we can already feel ourselves losing our January 1st, or should we say January 2nd motivation.

So, how do we stay motivated to hit the gym before work? Or complete daily meditation, say yes to more, and stick to our set budgets- well that was a mouthful!

Here are a few tips to hold yourself accountable to sticking to your desired goals, so you can look back and be thankful you checked yourself (before wrecking yourself)!

Write. It. Down.

We hear it all the time, things just stick when you write them down versus (mindlessly) saying them out loud. Get yourself a cute notebook to make writing shit down less painful. It doesn’t need to be extensive paragraphs, but just a few bullet points to hold yourself accountable to what you want to achieve, even if it’s small changes you want to implement that particular week, versus looking at the whole year. Looking at the big picture is just as important but doesn’t always have to be at the top of your checklists.

Bi-Weekly Check-In’s

Because who has time for weekly check-in’s? But aiming for bi-weekly is totally attainable. Look at your set goals and evaluate how you’ve taken steps towards or away from them. Keep in mind too that your goals don’t all need to be so large scale, these can be simple things like making more of an effort to put your phone down an hour earlier before going to bed (a gentle reminder to ourselves that this needs to start becoming a habit LOL).

Go Tell Your Friends About It

We’re not saying you have to tell the entire world, but sometimes it can be nice to have a supportive friend on your team checking in to see how you’re progressing. No pressure, but low-key it holds you that significantly more accountable.

Tidy Space, Tidy Mind

Not sure if this is just us but when our space is clean, our brain is simply more functional. Take a few minutes to clear that chair in your room of clothes, wipe the dust off your kitchen counter, fluff the pillows on your couch and feel instant relief to get down to work. You don’t even realize the relief you feel when your space is tidy.

Slow Progress is Better Than No Progress

Dun, dun, dun- the famous cliché we love to hate, but seriously it’s true! More often than not we are in such a hurry to achieve things that are impossible to make happen overnight. All we can say is you have to be patient with yourself because trust us, we knoooow life happens and there are several circumstances that are out of our hands during our day to day. As long as you’re doing your best to control those circumstances that you do have power over, you’re already two steps ahead!

We hope this helps you feel like you have your life in order. On that note, let’s kickstart our resolutions together this February for real.

We’d love to hear from you, Cowes. Please share any of your strategies for reaching #goals!
