Happy Friday, Cowes!
Today, we shine light on the fabulous Roxy Earle of Luxurious Roxy, a babe who is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in and a loyal friend of The Cowe’s.
Give us your “quick n dirty” — tell us a bit about yourself. We want to know what you’re all about.
Roxy Earle, fashion designer, body positivity activist, television personality and overall fabulous girl.
#LocalLove is all about showing love to bad-ass bosses like yourself. Can you share with us what you do for work and how you make an impact?
My dream is to make fashion a more inclusive space by partnering with brands to educate and design size inclusive collections. Ending the prejudice placed on curvy women by the fashion industry.
How did you get into this line of work?
After appearing on The Real Housewives I amassed a loyal group of followers who were united by my body positive message. Fashion was an obvious next step to serve the gap in the market.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given (career or otherwise)
You will only truly thrive at your career, when you’re able to be your true and authentic self…so find a career where being you, is an asset.
How about the worst?
Everyone just wants to get in, get out and get home to their kids so don’t go introducing any big ideas that are disruptive and take a lot of work. I was also told I’d only ever make any money if I were in finance.
If you could paint your ideal life, what would that look like in 5-10 years from now?
I would love to be running the most inclusive fashion house in the world, that has completely rewritten the rules for fashion of all sizes. Happily married, with a healthy big family.
What are your favourite resources that you’ve come across over the years (e.g., email extensions, design apps etc.)
I’m so disorganized, the best thing I can do for my career is outsource my weaknesses to experts to help me thrive. Maybe they know the tricks and apps.
Who are 3 of your favourite Canadian entrepreneurs that our readers should absolutely be in the know about?
Joanna Knix – Founder of KnixWear. Michelle Romano / Clearbanc. Natasha Koifman – NKPR
