Oh, dry skin…. This Jamaican girl living in Canada still forgets about what winter instantly does to my skin without fail every year! As the weather quickly changed a few weeks ago I was snapped back into the reality that my serums just weren’t going to cut it anymore and started searching for an anti-aging cream that moisturizes and does all of the things that they claim to do. I wanted not only hydration but something that could help fight those little fine lines and wrinkles and give me that overall smooth look. I also didn’t want it to be a million dollars, let’s be honest, affordable skincare matters.
I got in touch with the good people at Olay, a drugstore skincare brand that has been in the biz for almost 70 years (my sweet Grandmother in Scotland used it), to find out a little more about their highly hyped 5-star red jar, Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream. They were good enough to send over a fun experiment that really did show exactly why the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream is one of the most popular skin creams in the world – they sell 20 jars a minute around the world, DAMN!
The science experiment came equipped with some test tubes, bowls, red hydration beads and two types of cream, a $200 prestige cream and Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream. I separated the beads and submerged one set in the prestige cream and the other in Olay. The hydration beads represent our skin cells and we submerge them to see how they react to the cream. The bigger the hydration beads get, the more moisture they (or your skin cells) are getting. After 12 hours of hanging out in the cream, the result was shocking, to be honest. The beads that were in the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream were plump and full, growing to over double the size as the original, while the prestige cream beads seemed to change very little in size.
The key to why Olay’s Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream is so damn good is it’s steeped in science and experience. The unbeatable hydration increases moisture by 50% on average over a 24-hour period. It also has peptides that helps support your skin’s natural renewal process, noticeably approving your skin’s texture. The busier (and older) I get, the more I want skincare that works for me. I’ve become less fussy about having 10 different products that all do different things, but rather love having one that does it all. Especially in our cold, dark winter….
