We are proud to shine light on Stacey Abrams as our first She’s The Boss feature of the year.
ICYMI, Raphael Warnock was elected the first Black senator in Georgia and Stacey played a crucial role in transforming this sought-after dream into a reality.
CNN hit the nail on the head, “Trump lost his election — and he spent two months lying and whining. Stacey Abrams lost her election — and she spent two years building a stronger movement. Now, we know whose strategy was better.” (The Triumph of Stacey Abrams over Donald Trump, Van Jones)
Stacey was the first black woman to become the gubernatorial nominee for a major party in the United States, and she was the first black woman and first Georgian to deliver a Response to the State of the Union. Over the course of Stacey’s career, she has founded multiple organizations devoted to voting rights, training and hiring young people of color, and tackling social issues at both the state and national levels. Damn, girl! We need you, and we got you.
The Washington Post columnist, Christine Emba proclaims in latest article Want to thank Black women? Here’s how.; ” Stacey Abrams did it. The former lawmaker and gubernatorial candidate has turned Georgia, once reliably red, to blue. Due in large part to the tireless organizing of Abrams and many other Black women, Georgians helped elect Democrat Joe Biden to the presidency and — after a nail-biting runoff election — will send Democrats Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff to the Senate.”
History has been made. We are proud to see progressive changes taking place and are trying to keep victories like this top of mind, despite the current state of the U.S.A. Our favourite part of Stacey’s efforts and energy was that her faith in turning Georgia blue never wavered throughout the voting process. It’s like she knew!
Annnd when you thought this woman could not get any fiercer… Stacey Abrams is also a New York Times bestselling author, serial entrepreneur and non-profit CEO. Stacey is the author of eight romantic suspense novels under the pen name Selena Montgomery. Yes, we’ve already added all of them to our 2021 reading list!
Stacey Abrams can’t stop, and she won’t stop! Stacey is a recipient of the John F. Kennedy New Frontier Award and a current member of the Board of Directors for the Center for American Progress. The more we learn about Stacey, the more we love, respect and appreciate her dedication to positively changing this dysfunctional world.
Stacey has stayed true to fulfilling her core ethos, which is that “poverty and inequality and inequity in our country are harming our future. And we need a leader who actually sees us all and is willing to lay out thoughtful progressive policies that will lift up the entire country and restore our international position.”
Cowes, we hope this woman gives you someone and something to believe in.
