✨ TODAY ON CWC + FRIENDS ✨ @cleoellis_, @peeadams and I sat down and chatted pre SECOND lockdown. We took the hour to check in with ourselves to see where we were at. It felt good to go back and forth about how our perspectives have changed since before COVID hit, what we rely on to get through what seems to be the darkest of days, how I overcame the blame game in my relationship, and how we can even think of dreaming up ideas while staring at the same four walls. These times have taught us to be more in tune with ourselves and for me, focus on my relationships. I don't think I've ever done more communicating in my life and it has proven to be very challenging and rewarding all at once. I’m discovering me all over again (as strange as that may seem) and working hard to not just allow myself to be bulldozed but to also be open to many sides of everyone’s stories.

This is your reminder to check in with yourself, to be kind to yourself even when it seems easier to put yourself down, to acknowledge and reflect on your feelings, and know that it's O-K to feel sad, angry, frustrated, lonely, confused and just generally pissed off.

I'm not saying it gets any easier, but after listening to today's episode, I promise you'll feel a little less alone. Born on a night much like tonight, a winter storm thick with snow and ice my warm and welcoming baby would pop onto the scene and bring more joy than I could ever explain. Happy birthday to my ace. Harlowe there is no one like you and there never will be. Keep being you, unapologetically. Keep challenging, keep growing, keep laughing, keep loving. We snuck out of the city a few weeks ago when our schedule opened up and @ellhousepec (a place I’ve been dying to stay at) had an opening. Though I had resisted wanting to venture back to #PEC since I went awhile back with my dear friend @mllebernard and we encountered some atrocious racism, we gave it another try. I’m happy to report that much has changed since we last went and I’m glad we gave it another try. ELL House is located on 2.5 acres of waterfront land just 5 minutes from Wellington and the beach. The house sleeps 8 with 4 bedrooms, 1 king, 2 queens and one room with bunk beds. The kitchen has all the equipment you need and the design is so thoughtful, they even stock @aesopskincare in their washrooms! I had been super stressed and this house melted it all away for me. In the mornings it was still warm enough to open the huge retractable windows and let the sun beam in while I read a book and listened to the waves crashing in. We went into the charming town and were welcomed by lovely shop owners and even found an alpaca farm that Harlowe LOVED. My girl is obsessed with alpacas 🤣 Though I’ve never really considered Ontario as the place to vacation, the pandemic has opened my eyes to the beauty that lies all around us. I’ve now made a list with Ell House and a few more spots I’d like to visit in our pretty province. Growing up in a small town as one of the only minorities I carry some PTSD. It’s important to note that not every vacation destination is open to everyone even though it appears so.
