This week on the podcast I cringed through an ‘All About Me’ episode. You can hear it as I nervously giggle throughout the whole thing. I almost canned it but I got to thinking of what I would have wanted to see and hear as I was growing up from someone who looks like me- what it would have done for my self confidence and willingness to show up. I was reminded of that when Harlowe saw Kamala Harris become VP just this week. If you listen (and I hope you do) you will hear that many times I had no idea what I was doing (sometimes still don’t). That being kind and making the best out of a crap situation (like working in a bar that I couldn’t physically turn around in) can turn out to be your setup for so much of your future success. That being a creative will often times fill you with doubt that is deafening, but once you figure out your process: believe in your process. To always be learning, to be patient, to manifest, to work hard and to know that nothing is easy - especially when it looks as though it is. One thing I wish I knew and that I wish I heard more is that very few people have it all figured out. No matter your age or place in life there is always a way to chase a dream or try something new. Stop living in a place of “must be nice” or “why isn’t that me” and work on moving your mindset to a place of ‘that will be and I will work to make is so’. Though cynics will call it Pollyanna, there is not much that can stop a dreamer with an incredible work ethic. As I watched the inauguration with you today I hop

As I watched the inauguration with you today I hope that it solidified what we’ve been telling you since you were smaller than you are in this picture: you, my girl, can be anything. This does not mean that it won’t come with pain, that it will be free from struggle, that it will be easy, but as @kamalaharris, the first Black and South Asian Vice President of America put it, I wish for you and for all little girls that you: “Dream with ambition, lead with conviction, and see yourself in a way that others might not see you, simply because they’ve never seen it before. And we will applaud you every step of the way.” The times where we weren’t allowed to dream of what could be because what could be had never been is beginning to be no more. To my fellow girls and women everywhere, you are enough, worthy and the change we absolutely need to see in the world. Keep shining. Keep believing. Keep being unapologetically you🖤 Congratulations @kamalaharris and @joebiden #representationmatters

These are a few of my favourite things... I haven

These are a few of my favourite things... I haven’t been buying a lot of things for myself because of the obvious but when I do, I am actively trying to spend my coins with Black or biopic owned companies. This bag by @brandonblackwoodnyc is not only perfectly on trend, it has a message that we all need to be fighting for: End Systemic Racism! I first bought @officialbyredo Tulipmania on the strength of @chrissyteigen’s Instagram story where she said it was the best smelling thing ever. It was. I then went on to buying these scents because I became obsessed with not only the branding, packaging, how the founder was inspired by trips to India with his mother and how he leaned into the magic of slow growth, but how a simple action of spraying something beautiful on myself made me feel good. And right now there isn’t much more important than seeking out small things that simply make you feel good and human and like you again. Self care and self love can be hard these days. It doesn’t have to come from buying things, it can come from sneaking moments alone for yourself, taking a walk, indulging in something decadent, taking a bath or singing some cheesy music really, really loud. However you can, find a way to take care of you. You deserve it, even in the midst of all of the stress you forget you do 🖤

I gotta go skip 🤣 Also, no, my sneakers are not grey, that’s dust. Those are my dusty ass sneakers bc I live in a construction zone. Good plan to renovate in a pandemic 😝 I’ve got all the great ideas, people.
